While a dentist\u2019s expertise and skills are all vitally important, having a dentist close by is definitely great when you need care as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sedation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dental emergencies can be stressful, but for some people, getting the dental treatment that they need is even more nerve-wracking. If you\u2019re someone who isn\u2019t typically the biggest fan of the dentist\u2019s office, you might want to find someone who offers sedation dentistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sedatives like nitrous oxide can make getting necessary dental care much more comfortable, but using these drugs requires specific licensing that not every dentist possesses. For that reason, you may need to look specifically for those dentists who are certified to administer sedation dentistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Treatments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re just dealing with a toothache, you might not be able to tell exactly what\u2019s causing it or what treatment is going to be necessary. However, if you think you might need a root canal or a tooth extraction, you should know that not every dentist is going to be able to offer you that. Some will have to refer you elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the case of your emergency dentist, you should probably make sure that they offer root canals to their patients. You might also want to find a practice that has an in-house oral surgeon in case a complex tooth extraction is necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
